I have seen thousands of eyes on DA.
The majority,[at least when the picture is just the eye], are photographic close-ups. Some have had the iris color modified, some have been heavily photoshopped.

Most have ignored the symbolic aspect of the eye, how it can denote understanding, and how even merely 'eye-like' structures can focus our attention. After all, we were once prey, and, although crocodiles float quietly,...logs don't have eyes.

I've been a big fan of Escher's work since I was a kid. More people in the art world should take note of the amazing concepts he explored.

Still one of my favorites.  Way back in the early '70's I was introduced to reefer and Escher the same night....mind.blown!

Careful, do a little Escher,...next thing you know you're looking at Bosch, then it's a slippery slope past van Gogh and Picasso, straight into the depths of surrealism!
